Collets

HARDINGE MANUFACTURED HARDENED & GROUND COLLETS

  • The hardness of the collets significantly increases the working life of same.
  • Optimum hardness, spring & spread perfected over more than a century.
  • Back bearing held to precision size & concentricity tolerances.
  • Bore, head angle, back bearing & thread all concentric to each other.
  • Standard collets will have a concentricity 0.0005″ or better whilst special accuracy collets will have a concentricity 0.0002″ or better.
  • Numerous serration options – standard flat, circular, sawtooth/buttress, diamond, etc

HARDINGE ORIGINAL 5C, 16C & 20C EMERGENCY COLLETS

  • Used when you need the collet bore to mimic as close as possible the machine tool spindle T.I.R. as these collets are bored “in situ” in the machine spindle.
  • The advantage is that if a hardened & ground collet is not readily available the emergency collet will enable you to “get up & running” quickly.
  • The rule of thumb for the life of the bore & leaf tension of an emergency collet is 300 to 500 pieces. The threads are heat treated but the leaves of the collet are not spring tempered resulting in the collet leaves losing their elasticity. Eventually you will be unable to put the part in the collet because the leaves will have lost their tension.
  • Most collets have internal threads for positive stops.
  • Extended nose versions.
  • Not suitable to be heat treated.
  • Various pilot hole diameters.
  • Pins supplied with same.
  • Head angle & collet bore are not heat treated so remember these collets will wear quickly under heavy or long use.

HARDINGE COLLETS FOR HYDROMAT ROTARY TRANSFER MACHINES

  • Manufactured to rigid specifications including material, heat treatment & accuracy for high production environments.
  • Every thread, back bearing & spread are gauged.
  • T.I.R. checked before leaving factory to ensure optimum quality.
  • Thru-hole & stepped collets stocked in fractional round, hexagon & square sizes.
  • Metric round sizes, special shapes & features also available.
  • Hexagon & square collets have two keyways – one to the corner & one to the flat for synchronization.
  • Available for the following Hydromat machine models:-
    • HW/25-12
    • HB/32-16
    • HB32/45-16
    • HB/45-12
    • PRO20

CRAWFORD WIDE RANGE MULTIBORE COLLET SYSTEM

  • The multibore collet will always maintain a parallel and even grip over its entire bore length, regardless of bar or material variations in size. (Provided of course that these variations are within the gripping range capacity of the specific collet employed & the bar or material are parallel).
  • Standard multibore collets with plain smooth bores have a 1/8″ gripping range resulting in a reduced collet inventory.
  • DIN6343 compatible multibore collets with plain smooth bores or spiral serrations have a 2mm gripping range.

HAINBUCH SPANNTOP COLLETS (ROUND O/D)

  • Standard serrated types.
  • Smooth bore types.
  • Machinable to size emergency types. (ID and face are soft whereas the taper and coupling areas are hardened).
  • “F” type serrations (multitude of small pointed teeth for round stock) for increased gripping.
  • “Z” type serrations (multitude of larger pointed teeth to achieve maximum holding power).
  • Hainbuch perfected vulcanization technology.
  • Rubber between the hardened chrome-nickel segments resistant to all standard coolants.
  • Standard 32, 42, 52, 65, 80 & 100 series collets.

HAINBUCH TOPLUS (HEXAGONAL O/D)

  • 65 & 100 series collets.
  • Standard serrated types.
  • Smooth bore types.
  • Machinable to size emergency types.
  • 25 percent higher power conversion than spanntop.

HAINBUCH MULTI SPINDLE EQUIPMENT

  • RS feed fingers with adjustable thrust force resulting in reduced abrasion & wear.
  • Various coating options for RS feed fingers – plastic, ceramic & carbide.
  • Multi-slot inner collet locates on the bar – resulting in minimal wear to the RS feed finger assembly.
  • Spanntop systems BZ (where there are no space or wall thickness problems) and ZW (coupling type). Easy clamping head change – over from the front.
  • Available for a variety of machine tools – Glidemeister, Index, Schütte and Tornos.
