Expanding Mandrels
STANDARD FACE-PLATE DRAWBAR OPERATED MANDRELS
This mandrel can be used on any machine tool with drawbar facilities, for general turning or grinding operations.
Sleeves are ground in the expanded position to provide loading clearance for the component part.
Adaptor plates can be manufactured and supplied to suit the machine tool spindle nose mounting.
Component end locators of solid or compensating type (for out of square locating faces) can be manufactured to your requirements.
The pull back action of the sleeves ensures that the component sits positively against the location face.
An over expansion stop, built into the expander pin, avoids over stressing the expansion sleeve.
Nine sizes available ranging from 12,50mm to 16,00mm up to 130,00mm to 178,00mm gripping diameters.
FACEPLATE NUT-OPERATED MANDRELS
The face-plate nut operated mandrel can be used on most machine tools that do not have a drawbar facility.
These are also suitable for milling fixture locators.
Adaptor plates can be manufactured and supplied to suit the machine tool spindle nose mounting.

BETWEEN CENTRES MANDRELS
Nut operated between-centres expanding mandrels are generally mounted between sixty degrees centres.
They can be driven from the drive flat with a carrier or drive plate.
A simple solid type component end locator or compensating type can be supplied if required.
These mandrels have a ground diameter at the back end to adapt them to face plate mounted if required, by use of an adaptor plate.
These mandrels are hand operated using conventional spanners, and can be used for small batch grinding operations or inspection purposes.
Nine sizes available ranging from 12,50mm to 16,00mm up to 130,00mm to 178,00mm gripping diameters.
STANDARD SPIGOT DRAWBAR OPERATED EXPANDING MANDRELS

An over expansion stop, built into the expander pin, avoids over stressing the expansion sleeve.
Five sizes available ranging from 12,50mm to 16,00mm up to 41,00mm to 63,50mm gripping diameters.
STANDARD EXPANDING MANDREL SLEEVES
The standard length sleeves & flush type sleeves can be used with all types of mandrels, & are interchangeable within the diameter range of each type.
Sleeves can be supplied bonded, to keep swarf away from the double angle form, to help prolong the sleeves life and accuracy.
Nine sizes available ranging from 12,50mm to 16,00mm up to 130,00mm to 178,00mm gripping diameters.
FLUSH TYPE MANDREL SLEEVES
The flush type sleeves can be used with all types of mandrels, & are interchangeable within the diameter range of each type.
Sleeves can be supplied bonded, to keep swarf away from the double angle form, to help prolong the sleeves life and accuracy.
Nine sizes available ranging from 16,50mm to 22,00mm up to 143,00mm to 178,00mm gripping diameters.
SPECIAL MANDREL SLEEVES
The expanding sleeves shown below can be supplied with their expansion slots bonded with silicone as specials. This is recommended to keep swarf away from the double angle form, thus assisting in prolonging the life and accuracy of the expanding mandrel assembly.
Short length special sleeves to cater for holding components that are too short for using the standard sleeves.
Standard length special sleeves have double angles spaced at optimum positions for positive clamping & accuracy.
Extended length special sleeves used when component parts are too long for the standard sleeves.
Special dual sleeves are used when component parts are too long for extended sleeves.
Dual combinations of the above sleeves provide a rigid method of clamping a long component.
